Krishnacore: a term that a lot of people might not be familiar with or remember, but if you were into hardcore at the beginning of the ‘90s when bands like Shelter and 108 enjoyed their heyday, you have at least heard the music. What can I say that hasn’t been said about the legacy of 108? They were one of the most brutal yet spiritual bands of the day. The manic guitar style of Vic Dicara took hardcore and mixed it with the most metal riffs I have ever heard, even to this day. Just fucking brutal, and with more talent on the old six string than I’ve heard from anything punk related. Then there is Rob Fish… there is so much aggression in his voice and delivery that he would give Mike Judge a real run for his money. Last year brought us the reissue of all their previous recordings on the two-disc set Creation. Sustenance. Destruction., and with one listen you wanted to start floor punching in your living room. After a couple of reunion shows, enter 2007… and 108 are fucking back for good! And more pissed than ever! One would have thought that these guys would have mellowed out in their older age, but no way! This record screams with the aggression that none of their contemporaries even come close to. From opener “Declaration on a Grave,” the band are set on total destruction. I love it! I never thought I would be so excited see this band come back, but it’s undeniable. 108 destroy: plain and simple.
