Good start, but loses stream toward the end.

TransformOnline - Music Review

Emmure are a band that definitely represents our current times, as these guys came together over the internet, sending files back and forth. They also didn’t let a state line stop them from traveling from New York to Connecticut and via versa for band practices. This dedication has lead Emmure to land a deal with Victory. And while Victory has leaned more toward the lighter emo side of music lately, Emmure have cranked this label back up to 10… or maybe even 11.

Goodbye to the Gallows starts with a 50-second intro that’s almost doom metal, but then brake into the album’s two strongest tracks: “10 Signs You Should Leave” and “When Keeping it Real Goes Wrong” (the latter of which has to be a reference to the Chappelle Show skit). With 10 songs clocking in at just under 30 minutes, Emmure get right to the point. The only problem is that, as the record goes on, the chugging breakdowns get too repetitive and the remaining songs lose the emotion that is brought on in the beginning.
