Blood Tsunami hail from the black metal breading ground of Norway. They even have a former member of the famed outfit Emperor. If the name Bard “Faust” Eithun rings a bell, that is because he also did some prison time for murdering a homosexual man in Lillehammer, Norway on August 21, 1992. So he has had plenty of time to practice playing drums. But are Blood Tsunami a black metal band? No, just look at the album title. This record is much like my favorite alcoholic beverages: it has the contents listed so you know exactly what you’re getting. There is a hint of black metal, but that is only in the vocals, which are your typical high pitched screeches. Otherwise, Thrash Metal is just that: thrash metal with a hint of modern rock mixed in. Blood Tsunami are not reinventing the wheel, but they are definitely putting their own spin on it. If you are looking for straight ahead thrash, stick with the originators, but if you want something a little different from the norm with a poor man’s Bolt Thrower cover thrown in, check out Blood Tsunami.
