If you're a fan of hardcore, then you probably already know who Comeback Kid are. If not, then you should familiarize yourself with them quickly! This has got to be the greatest and most intense hardcore band to emerge in the 21st century. This is their third full length and there seems to be no sign of the brutality letting up. And if you weren't told, you would never know that they have switched vocalists. Guitarist Andrew Neufeld has filled the frontman slot with the departure of Scott Wade. Broadcasting... reminds me alot of their first, 2003's Turn it Around, because of the sheer passion and energy that you can feel coming from it. This sounds as if Mr. Neufeld is going to spontaneously combust in the middle of every song. I constantly find myself gasping for air! Back in Nov., their website promised some of the best songs they had ever written, but I just figured, "Yeah, everybody says that." But you know what? They weren't kidding. This album is amazing. I've been totally sold on this band ever since 2005's Wake the Dead. As before, the guitar, bass, and (especially) drum work is flawless. They must have spent months rehearsing and recording. As far as the recording goes, even though you expect everything recorded at The Blasting Room to sound great, Broadcasting... might be the best that I've ever heard come out of there. Very crisp and clean, but with just the right amount of crunch. Hardcore has always been the bastard child of punk and metal, and this is EXACTLY what it should sound like. Fast, brutal, passionate, intense, and memorable. Not too much punk, not too much metal. A perfect blend. I think this would appeal to even the snobbiest hardcore purist (and it has: ME!). If I had to choose one hardcore band to listen to for the rest of my life, these guys would be it (sorry, Black Flag). With this release, Victory may be earning my respect again.
