If only I could've been there in person...

TransformOnline - Music Review

The early ‘80s version of Bad Brains are probably the best band of all time! I can't think of one person who would argue with that statement. Long before there was too much reggae, before line-up changes, before Madonna, Bad Brains were the best rock band on the planet. I say “rock” instead of “hardcore” because there was so much depth to their music, politically and spiritually. But if you are like me and not 45 years-old, chances are you were never able to catch them live back in the heyday. Not to say it’s not an amazing experience to see them now or in the last couple of years: I just think that HR probably hits the bong more than the stage now.

Anyway, Live at CBGB 1982 is a rare glimpse into a time when Bad Brains ruled! All my favorite songs from the ROIR Sessions-era are captured on tape. All the fury... everything! The quality and sound of this DVD are pretty fucking amazing as well, which leads me to say... where has this footage been? Why are we just getting to see it now? You know what? I don't care! All I know is that I can finally watch the real Bad Brains tear it up and wish that I could have been there.

 Past Constructive Criticism

Uptown posted the following Constructive Criticism: I absolutely agree! I wrote similar sentiments on my reviwe for amazon.com. Where the hell has this been? Was it just a coincidence that the release conicided with CB's closing? Awww who cres right? As long as it came out sometime! The fact that the early Brains, like you said, were arguably the best to ever do it, rings true even today!! And in regard to CB's, 1982 Brains is probably the BESt way to give tribute to CB's, even better than the Ramones...yeah i said it!

Creating a whole new vocabulary to their language.

Willing to do it when no one else will.
