TransformOnline - Music Review

I’m gonna assume that, if you’re reading this review, you’re already familiar with Samiam. And if not, then you’ve got a hell of a lot of catching up to do. But I’m not going to rehash their history here: do your own research because this band set the stage for many of the bands you listen to today!

Whatever’s Got You Down can be summed up pretty easily. You asked for it, and they delivered: another album that lives up to all their previous work. If you’re looking to take a break from the screamo on the radio or the pile of sound-alike bands in your CD collection, I highly recommend tuning into some Samiam: and particularly Whatever’s Got You Down. Sophisticated, melodic songwriting produced a real winner here. I’ve heard it said that Samiam may have borrowed their name from a children’s book, but their music is far from child’s play: and they’ve proved it again with this album.
