Your 15 year-old sister is going to love this shit. Slow, atmospheric, glossily-produced emo with big Myspace-friendly melodies, all delivered by a singer who emotes so hard that his sleeves must be soaked with blood from wearing his heart there. It’s actually not terrible, surprisingly enough, but it’s not groundbreaking by any means. The arrangements and melodies are catchy in a MOR, head-barely-nodding kind of way. And the packaging is cool, at least. At least these guys aren’t playing disco beats, and I gotta pat ‘em on the shoulder for that. The real weakness here is guitarist/vocalist Travis Ryan, whose breathy, affected, teenager-tailored whine is sugary enough to make your teeth rot. They obviously want to be all epic and huge-sounding, like the U2 of modern-day emo, but they’re just not original or forceful enough to have that kind of impact. Add in the fact that this three-song EP barely cracks 12 minutes, and it’s just not worth your time or money. Sorry boys, I bet you look totally stylish in girl pants though.
