I didn't know that straight edge bands still existed! Maybe only on the East Coast? Anyway, this is another release by another band in the recent wave of Hatebreed, Terror, and Throwdown sounding, slow, heavy hardcore with probably drop tuning, super throaty vocals, and insane double bass. What happened to fast hardcore? There's no doubt that I'm a fan of some of this genre's best, but the problem, in my opinion, is that this style has very narrow and limited boundaries and not a whole lot of room for expansion. Which means that you better have something that really stands out to offer, or you're going to sound like everyone else. Unfortunately, on Chapter 1... To This Day don't really offer anything original or overtly ear catching... which means they kind of sound like everyone else. And though certainly not terrible, I just can't remember any of the songs as soon as they're done. The singer (more appropriately, growler) has an okay voice, the musicianship is solid, the drummer is really good, and the recording's not bad, but I just can't remember any of it! Maybe it's just me. Find them online and give 'em a shot yourself.
