No surprises here: you know what you're getting.

TransformOnline - Music Review

I have to be honest, I’ve never been a big Saves The Day fan, and Sound the Alarm did little to win me over. I think it’s the vocals: just too whiny and junior high sounding. But having said that, if you’re already a fan of the band or are at least moderately interested in them, you’re likely to really enjoy this album. It’s consistent, well written and produced: exactly what longtime fans will appreciate. I have a hard time imagining this will be the album that wins over new fans, though, since there are SO many bands out there who “do what they do” and do it in more interesting ways. I will give these guys credit for their reputation as a great live band, however. I think that fact is really important, and goes a long way to make up for music that I feel wishy-washy about.

All in all, I’d say there’s nothing about Sound the Alarm that’s worth heavy complaining, yet nothing I’d rave about, either. But I’m willing to admit that hardcore (no, not HARDCORE) fans may think differently. So go give it a listen and let me know, okay?
