Organic electronica + female vocals from members of The Notwist and Couch.

This German outfit has been around for close to a decade and features members from such bands as The Notwist, Couch, and Tied & Tickled Trio among others. Musically, they bring to mind some of the softer electronic artists out there (Lali Puna, for example), with some organic instrumentation thrown in as well. It’s this type of music they I can normally really get behind, but the vocals… while quite soothing in a few songs, they have a tendency to veer off into a sort of cold, robotic territory (think Elastica’s “Connection”). Vocal criticisms aside, Notes and the Like is a solid album that should appeal to fans of the aforementioned bands and organic electronica in general.
