Lagwagon new album "I Think My Older Brother Used to Listen To" on Fat Wreck Chords

Devics "Push the Heart" (Filter)

Melancholy downtempo emphasizing more on atmospheres than rhythms.

TransformOnline - Music Review

In the vein of Zero 7 and Alpha, Devics utilize seductive and sensual female vocals as a focal point around which soothing atmospheres float. The difference, however, is that the music is neither as electronica-oriented as Zero 7 or as ghostly drifting as Alpha: there are hooks just concrete enough for you to hum and studio trickery impressive enough to make you “oh” and “ah.” On standout “Secret Message to You,” a melancholy calliope pumps out slow, bittersweet chords as a loop of an old typewriter sets the rhythm, perfectly complimenting the forlorn vocals desperate to speak its deepest thoughts. Beautiful.

The rest of the album, unfortunately, never reach the same heights, but still serves as great come-down music and/or the soundtrack to a reflective late night.
