The Greenhornes are three dudes hell-bent on a mescaline and Quaalude inspired trip to fill the nooks and crannies of the world with oily rock and roll that sticks to all your parts and makes touching your woman a brand new and electrifying experience. Their music makes you wanna fuck. And listen here, jerkoff reviewers making them the likes of The Doors and The Byrds and The Kinks: get a bigger musical library, you clusterfucks. The Greenhornes are far dirtier than that, and a lot more soulful. You'd wish these three pasty-ass White boys were Black cuz they sizzle it the way early rock sizzled it, right before the Brits and the psychedelics took a hold. There's harmonicas here, bitch, there's sloppy drums abusing and riding cymbals like Tijuana hookers, guitars maybe organs and basses breaking themselves with speed, but there are also moments of incredible tenderness and real shebang! crooning – hot and long like "I've Been Down" and "Shadow of Grief" – who the fuck? Four Tops backing? What's going on? Put your Kings Of Leon records aside for a little bit, these mothers are the real deal, and this 19-song retrospective covers all the facets in need of covering. So they tour with The White Stripes: do The Greenhornes not deserve some decent scratch for undertaking the mission you wish you had undertaken? Whip out your Oblivians 7"ers, your Flamin Groovies LPs, your Ralph Nielsen And The Chancellors 45s, don't fuck with me: The Greenhornes' music is for anyone who likes a little primal in his/her rock and motherfucking roll. Howl!!!
