TransformOnline - Music Review

This is one of those odd records that left me with absolutely NO first impression… I really didn't know what I thought of it. Usually, this earns a record a quick trip to the trashcan, but for some reason I decided this one had potential. Boy am I glad I gave Discovering the Waterfront a chance. It’s really very well written and perfomed. After several hours in the car with this album, I am now really into it.

Stylistically, it has a lot in common with Story Of The Year, but with much more of an emphasis on melodic vocals and catchy riffs. This is definitely the strength of the album. There isn't really much to complain about, but I do have to comment that, since the band has a dual vocal set up – a singer and a screamer – it seems like the screamed parts are sometimes unnecessary. There are a couple places where the screamed vocals really throw the song off... but who knows, maybe you'll love it. So the short story is this: go buy the album. Even though it took me a while to get into, I eventually did. And so will you!
