Indie punk rock from Florida’s Mecca: Gainesville!!!

TransformOnline - Music Review

The Beat Buttons are the new musical venture from Alex Lopez (ex-Argentina), and what a fine ride it is. Compare them to a stripped down Superchunk and add a successful pop formula to the mix. Catchy, melodic, well executed, these songs rattle around the head long after play and are just as fresh and exciting on the second go-around.

There are slight country tinges, Irish sounds masquerading as crinklier guitars, throaty vocals, and excellent gelling between drummer Micah Daw and bassist James Hernandez. Tracks I like and revisit often: “Divorced,” “Dare,” “The Middle,” and the closer “Too Late.” Good music will always come out of Florida’s Mecca: Gainesville!!!
