Cool name, not much else.

TransformOnline - Music Review

As far as I’m concerned, the coolest thing about The Immortal Lee County Killers 3 (or TILCK3, as they’re referring to themselves these days) is their name and their image. The boozy, dapper, half intellectual / half country boy, suited Southern hipster pose they strike is attractive. But other than that, I’m sorry to say, there’s not a whole lot here.

Musically, this three-piece (guitar, organ, drums) falls way short. Their sound is somewhere between the country-blues-rock of Let it Bleed-era Rolling Stones and the psychedelic sounds of ‘60s Texas cult band, The 13th Floor Elevators. The main problem is that they just can’t play their instruments all that well. There’s being sloppy cuz it fits the “wild, not holds barred, rock ‘n’ roll” vibe, and then there’s being sloppy cuz you just aren’t able to play any better. These guys fall into the latter category. The singer can’t sing for shit either.

There are a number of acts on the scene nowadays doing this sort of stuff way, way better than the Lee County boys (The Moaners, in particular). Don’t be fooled by the hype, these guys are all flash and no substance.

paul kenney posted the following Constructive Criticism: This guys review is total crap.they dont give a damn about image or just being cool. They found a way help bring back the blues to a new generation. While still making it sound fresh. They are truly inspiring and made me do a 180 on how i feel about music.one of the rockinest duo/trio's out there!!
Duane Downer posted the following Constructive Criticism: Kudos to Matt Lane for spelling it out. ILCK3 are daring to branch out from the overdone and tired "rock-a-billy" we've been subjected to for the past decade or so. Play on Immortal Lee County Killers and, for all you dying to be from the South, check out a hard working band bringing like they know how.
joey parker posted the following Constructive Criticism: you know reviews are like assholes everybody has one. you cant even group ILCK with the moaners. completely different bands dude...
frank chatham posted the following Constructive Criticism: Ari Joffe, Your critism of the Immortal Lee Country Killers speaks volumes of your musical pedigree.... Where is the love? I am a huge fan of the Killers and those guys really hit home with this Mississippi boy raised in Alabama. ILCK defined the genre "PUNK DELTA BLUES" - may I suggest miracle ear??? later -
Matt Lane Harris posted the following Constructive Criticism: Man you seem like a smart guy, but i think you're out of touch on this one. This is a solid album from a band obviously trying to distance themselves from the tired-ass rockabilly/blues cartoons that have been dotting our musical landscape for the past 10 years. And frankly, down south, that shit is a joke. It's for bed-wetters freshly enrolled in Southern Music 101. I think this is welcomed experimentation resulting in a very unique sound that still maintains a punk rock blues backbone. And by the by, these fuckers are EXCEPTIONAL musicians that have made a living on the critic's radar. This album is not for everyone but neither is alcohol.
JB posted the following Constructive Criticism: You're so wrong here. This band drip soul and hellfire.
