Where has this band been my whole life?

TransformOnline - Music Review

Where has this band been my whole life? After listening to the latest album from Defleshed, I feel almost ashamed I've never heard of this band. With an approach to death metal akin to Katklysm – a fusion of the finest elements of black, thrash and death metal – Defleshed come out in full force with a versatile assault of rampant drums, blazing riffs, and shattering vocals. What gives this album its punch is the insane amount of strong riffage on par with some of the best thrash around.

Beyond the magical riffs lies some great song structure. The openings to each of the 12 tracks jumpstart the album with insanity. Whether it’s the smart samples at the beginning of "Chain Reaction" or "Under Destruction," or the steady hype up of the title track, each piece kindles the fire. And placement on this album is everything. The first three tracks are flat out punishing. "Stripped to the Bone" starts out with an amazing, cranked up, onslaught of marching soldiers. And from there it just pours on and on, from the storm of "Abstinence for Turbulence" to the brutal onslaught of "Chain Reaction," Defleshed never lose the beat.

Definitely a band with a lack of exposure here in the States, the Swedish natives are out to blow away listeners and do not fall short of expectations with their sixth full length studio album. Going to the band's official site, the mouse cursor changes into devil horns. How metal is that? Check this band out or be sorry, because they'll roll right over your pathetic ass with crushing riffs and intensity to spare.

Highlights: "Abstinence for Turbulence," "Chain Reaction," the title track, and "Ignorance is Bliss."
