I’d never heard of Day Of Contempt until I popped this album in, but they’ve certainly got my attention. This band has just about everything I could ask for: super powerful song writing, dual vocals, and sing-along melodies. The songs are aggressive and heavy, yet not abrasive: very listenable. Think Blindside meets Ignite with Dicky Barrett adding some of his gruff vocals. Good stuff!
I can actually envision The Will to Live getting some decent airplay. It’s accessible enough that it may have wide audience appeal, but it isn’t overly commercial sounding. As I listened to this the first few times, all I could imagine was these songs being used on surf/skate videos. It’s got all the right grooves and would be just the thing to crank for your ride to the beach or skate park!
