The glory of '96 lives in Sweden.

TransformOnline - Music Review

Okay, so these guys used to be called Venereal Disease. So what? Hard-Ons, Gorilla Biscuits, and The Spaceshits were all terrible names, but that didn’t stop ‘em from rulin’ now, did it?

Venerea bring the ’96 SoCal sound as if Sum 41, Blink-182, and all them other shitty pop punk bands never tainted the genre with cheap imitation. The guitars are razor sharp, the riffs as melodic as they are traceable back to the early greats (Minor Threat, Descendents), and the tempos fast and furious like they’re supposed to be! In a parallel universe where pop punk never sold out, all the bands sound like Venerea.

Imagine Pennywise’s punch but with better sense of songwriting, Ten Foot Pole but with better melodies, and No Use For A Name before the Elliott Smith influences crept in. One Louder will be welcomed by all those who miss the glory days of SoCal pop punk.

Magnus posted the following Constructive Criticism: Damn! This was the greatest review i've ever read. I thought this kind of music was dead and gone until I heard this album. High quality poppunk.

Hot Water Music "Till the Wheels Fall Off" (No Idea)
Closing one chapter and opening another.
Eluveitie "Slania" (Nuclear Blast)
Fails to capture a strong emotion from either side of their musical blueprint.
Portishead "Third" (Mercury)
Creating a whole new vocabulary to their language.
Death Angel "Killing Season" (Nuclear Blast)
Willing to do it when no one else will.
Nik Freitas "Sun Down" (Team Love)
Not afraid to tread the waters of pop innocence.
