Roger Miret And The Disasters’ follow up their 2002, self-titled effort with a street punk album reminiscent of those Doc Martens salad days of the early ‘80s. Yup, it’s entitled 1984. Miret’s without a doubt a powerhouse on the microphone, but I can’t see Agnostic Front purists getting behind this. The music is handled well by the crew of Rhys Kill (guitar/vox), Brian Darwas (bass/vox), and Mike Mulieri (drums). I know Tim’s gone on the offensive for his A.F. (hey! look at that, my initials!!!) love, so here I drop my two cents: you just don’t fuck with the United Blood EP!
But you also don’t live in the past, so for the AF purists who wanna knock heads and do the creepy-crawly, they’re gonna just have to deal with friendlier circle pits with Chelsea-haired skankin’ chicks. I liked “Hooligans” and “The Boys” for their drinking with the boys charm, “Janie Hawk” for its straightforward punk rock, and the one-two punch of “Kill For Cash” and “Shot Stabbed and Fooled” for its street social commentary.
This is for fans of the first two Rancid albums, The Business, Sham 69, and The Blood.
