TransformOnline - Music Review

Days of listening to your old NOFX mix tape are over. After almost 20 years of punk rocking, NOFX is finally releasing a best-of collection brilliantly titled The Greatest Songs Ever Written (By Us).

NOFX are crowned veterans of the punk rock scene, having sold over 4.5 million records worldwide in the absence of a major label. Old school fans have remained loyal to the band while their music continues to gain popularity amongst the ever-growing number of newcomers. And even though the present day scene has received its fair share of criticism and knockdowns, NOFX are still regarded with the same love and respect from that of 10 years ago. They’re as original, entertaining, comedic, in your face, and unapologetic as ever. Thank God some things don’t change.

This greatest hits compilation contains 26 classics and one brand new tune (“Wore Out the Soles of My Party Boots”). If you’ve ever followed the band – and let’s be honest, who in their right mind hasn’t – this album is a must. In addition to the songs, which include favorites such as “Bob,” “Bleeding Heart Disease,” “Soul Doubt,” “Linoleum,” and “What’s the Matter With Kids Today,” the album comes with a 24 page booklet featuring rare photos from throughout the years. It’s a sweet, sweet thing… I suggest you indulge yourself – now.

 Past Constructive Criticism

nikita posted the following Constructive Criticism: you called your article, thank god some things done change. wouldn't you say that if this was a NEW nofx album? meaning that 'thank god they still sound the same after almost 20 years.' but this is just a 'greatest hits'comp, of course they havent changed. yeah they had a new song on it, but it sounds different to their old stuff that is on the record..(and if you actually WERE a nofx fan you would know) but its still great and its still nofx and they still havent sold out. but its people like you who are ruining their simple underground lives by your subliminal messages.. 'If you’ve ever followed the band – and let’s be honest, who in their right mind hasn’t' well i know alot of people who dont like nofx and i also know some people who dont even know who they are and i think they would like it to stay that way. you cant do that in articles, thats generalising your audience. if this was a nofx site, they yes fire away but it isnt and im not even sure what the album is doing on here anyway.. oh thats right, cos its a complication of all their best songs, so that means that all the 15 year old 'pop punks' can try and convince their mates that they are true punks cos they have the album.. fuck that.

Willing to do it when no one else will.
