Gary Gygax, creator of Dungeons and Dragons, has passed away at the age of 69.
Today marks the end of the original dungeon master as Gary Gygax, co-creator of the pencil-and-paper RPG Dungeons and Dragons, died today. He was 69. Cause is still unknown at this time, but it was known he suffered from heart problems.
Gary Gygax's influence flows way beyond the tabletop, as the D&D license has been used in many video games, from the old SSI games, like Eye of the Beholder, to two Capcom arcade games (Tower of Doom, Shadows over Mystara), to the current myriad of PC Forgotten Realms games, such as Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, and Neverwinter Nights. His influence also spans across many other RPGs including Oblivion. He will be missed by pencil-and-paper RPG fans and video gamers alike.
Just make sure to not rub your D20's on Gygax's forehead during the open-casket funeral. You don't want cursed dice in your hands, do you?
