Microsoft's and Bungie's system seller grosses $170 million in the first 24 hours.
Microsoft tooted many horns today as they announced the first day sales of Halo 3. Within the first 24 hours, the third game in the franchise earned $170 million, $45 million more than Halo 2's first launch. They also mentioned that this beat all entertainment first day release records, including the movie Spiderman 3 and the book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows.
Shane Kim, corporate vice-president of Microsot Game Studios, said that Halo 3 was a "pop-culture phenomenon", stating that they had "seen more than a million Xbox LIVE members come online to play Halo 3—that makes September 25 the most active Xbox LIVE gaming day in history."
Nice to know how many people missed work and school.
