Nintendo's Press Conference

First look at upcoming stuff from Nintendo

I have to say that I liked this press event much better than Sony's, especially after the price bomb Sony dropped. Unfortunately, I slept in a bit too late and I missed some info from the event. What I did get to see was Zelda: Twilight Princess being played on the Wii. Before you freak out, it's okay, Zeld will still be on the Cube. The Wii version uses that wacky controller that you either love or hate. To me it seems like you'll need very steady hands as both the nuchuku (That little thing with the thumbstick that hooks into the remote) and the remote have motion sensors. So be prepared to hold you hands at certain levels for a long time while playing.

The games that caught my eye were the new Mario for Wii, Super Mario Galaxy, and Starfox DS. The new Mario game will have our fav plumber in space, flying about from planet to planet. Graphically this game looked very smooth, but really didn't seem all that impressive in those same terms. Infact all the gmes shown looked a bit better than Cube games. Not much was shown for Starfox DS other than a few video clips in a montage. I was really hoping for more info on Final Fantasy 3 for the DS, but sadly they only briefly mentioned it. The video that they showed looked to be from the new Crystal Chronicles for Wii.

The best part for me had to be when some lucky guy won a contest to be the first person outside or Nintendo staff to play the Wii. He got to play doubles Tennis with Miyamoto himself against Iwata and another person from Nintendo. Tennis is part of the sports package that will lanch with the system that features Tennis, Baseball, and I beleive Golf. Watching them all move about on stage and swing the remote controllers about was great fun.

There will be more info about the conference in the coming days all over the internet.
