Sony's Press Conference

Sony showed off some of the stuff to be expected in the near future...

Of course the big news is that in November, the PS3 will be hitting. But it's not just going to be hitting the stores, it will be hitting your wallet with a bone crunching thud that oplays to the tune of $600. Yes you read that right, of course if you opt for the smaller hard drive you can get one for $500. With price specualtion being so right on for the system, it looks like it might be right for the games as well. So expect about $80 per game. What was shown in terms of content was not much that we haven't seen, with the most anticipated things only in video format. The stuff that we got to see actually played, while cool, just didn't really feed that hype that has been coursing through my and many other's veins.

Sony had one little trick that, while not the biggest thing announced during the conference, was the loudest shot fired. The controller will feature six degrees of movement... which oddly seems like something I have seen before, in another controller... I can't recall what it was, but I seem to remember it to be shaped like a remote for a TV... Nope can't place it.

There will be plenty of info covering all the points I didn't bother with all over the internet in the coming days, so just bounce about.

The rest of the stuff shown was a new trick for theeye-toy, PS1 games on the PSP in their original format (Oh joy, more handheld titles from yester year) and a bunch of other filler crap that makes me think that every game system company thinks that they are SO in the lead of everything.

Tomorow I'll try and be up for Nintendo's press conference. Maybe they will actually show the system DO something... Maybe they will announce a release date for Zelda... Maybe Miyamoto will play the banjo! Who knows?
