ROCK THE VOTE ROCKS OUT AT THE DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION
Black Eyed Peas, Maroon 5 and Others to Perform at Boston Events

Boston, MA - Jul. 14, 2004
While delegates at the Democratic National Convention trumpet the merits of nominees John Kerry and John Edwards, Rock the Vote will embrace its mandate to marshal young voters through music, hosting events in the Boston area with the support of the Black Eyed Peas, Maroon 5 and other popular artists.

On hand at many of the events will be the Rock the Vote Bus, which is currently traveling the country registering voters and inspiring young people to get involved in the political process.

The bus tour, which is traveling to musical concerts, political conventions and college campuses in the most hotly contested cities in the 2004 election all the way through Election Day, November 2nd ñ is sponsored by Sunkist, Cingular Wireless, Motorola and Ben & Jerryís. MTV is also a bus tour partner for Rock the Vote, which serves as the channelís primary voter registration partner for its "Choose or Lose: 20 Million Loud" initiative, which aims to mobilize 20 million voters aged 18-30 to the polls in November.

The schedule of Rock the Vote events, and artists/VIPs appearing at each, is as follows:

Sunday July 25

8:30 p.m. - 2 a.m.ìThe Jumpoffî at the Avalon nightclub (15 Landsdowne Street) with special guests President Bill Clinton and Senator Hillary Clinton. Musical guests will include the X-Ecutioners, Mission of Burma and a DJ set by Biz Markie. Attendees also to include Rev. Al Sharpton, Jon Stewart, Natalie Portman, Jerry Springer and MANY MORE! Event sponsored by Democratic GAIN with after party sponsored by the Rock the Vote.

Monday July 26

11 a.m. - 3 p.m.Voter registration drive at the CambridgeSide Galleria Lagoon (100 CambridgeSide Place, Cambridge). Featuring the Rock the Vote bus and samplings by Rock the Vote bus tour sponsors Ben & Jerry's, Sunkist, Motorola and Cingular Wireless.

Tuesday July 27

5:30 p.m. - 8 p.m.French Connection UK in-store event (206 Newbury Street). VIP invitation-only event with in-store DJ, hosted cocktails, food, 15% purchases benefit Rock the Vote, unveiling of a voting-themed FCUK t-shirt. FCUK is a sponsor of the Community Invasion program, which is a part of the Rock the Vote bus tour.

10 p.m. - 2 a.m.Concert at the Avalon nightclub (15 Landsdowne Street) featuring the Black Eyed Peas. In partnership with the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Wednesday July 28

11 p.m. - 2 a.m.Live Music Late Night at Felt Boston (533 Washington St.) featuring local favorites Frickin' A and Angel.

11 p.m. - 2 a.m. Lifetime Televisionís "Every Woman Counts" campaign and Rock the Vote's "Chicks Rock, Chicks Vote" initiative host a late night party featuring Carole King and other music talent. Venue TBD.

Thursday July 29

8 p.m. - 2 a.m.Nomination Night Concert at the Roxy (279 Tremont St.) featuring Maroon 5. Sponsored by Time Warner and Rock the Vote. Invitation-only event.

"We are committed to having a visible presence in Boston during The Democratic National Convention, and in New York during the Republican National Convention, given the tremendous energy and media coverage surrounding both events," stated Jehmu Greene, president of Rock the Vote. "We are grateful to those musical artists and partners who share our commitment to register at least one million new voters this year and mobilize 20 million young voters to the polls on November 2."
