Much has happened since leaving Weynon Priory. On my way here, I saw many interesting sights. If there wasn't the dire need for getting to Martin, I'd have explored. The journey was not without danger, as I was attacked by many rats along the way, as well as several highway men, raiders, and outlaws. I saw a few guards on patrol along the road, but none of them were near the areas I was attacked in. It seems as though, with the recent events, the guard patrols have been concentrated more in populated areas, leaving many lesser populated areas awash in danger. I met a few travelers on the road before reaching the gates of Skingraad: two of them spoke of the death of the Emporer. I guess with news such as this I shouldn't be suprised it spread so quickly. At the same time, it makes me worry who else knows of it.
On my way through Skingraad, a strange man approached me and asked me to meet him behind the great chapel, saying that it would be safer to talk there. He seemed rather unstable, and seeing as I was on a mission, I didn't bother to follow him. On my approach to Kvatch, I saw the sky filled with smoke, the clouds were red, perhaps reflecting massive flames. I rushed as fast as I could to Kvatch, fearing the worst. Making my way quickly through the tent housing outside the city, I learned that my fears were founded: Kvatch had fallen to an attack from Oblivion. A gate had opened and from it an army had fallen upon the the city. I may be too late to get Martin. This small gathering outside the city were those who had escaped, and Martin was not with them. I told the guards I'd help close the Oblivion Gate since it is my only way into Kvatch. I must hurry, Martin may still be alive. There is a very good chance this may be my last entry, though.
